The past week has been truly a spectacular and historic week in the Immanuel girls basketball program. They were challenged and ended up beating three traditionally strong programs who, at the time of the games, were conference leaders. Last Thursday Immanuel beat Eleva-Strum, the Large Dairyland leader, for only the 2nd time in history with a 53-48 win. Then on Tuesday they beat Small Dairyland leader Independence 57-39, again a team they beat for only the 2nd time in history. And then to conclude the hat trick, they beat Alma/Pepin, 38-35, in a defensive battle. The game certainly had a playoff atmosphere as the Lancers played a road game at Alma High School. With the win, Immanuel is now in a tie for first place with Alma/Pepin in the Small Dairyland Coference, both with 8-3 records in conference games. What an amazing accomplishment! It would have been a three-way tie with Independence also involved. But last night Independence lost to Gilmanton in a 47-46 game, Gilmanton scoring a layup with one second left in the game.
It is truly amazing to see how Immanuel has rebounded from an 0-2 conference start and has taken such strides to get into the conference race now at 8-3. In addition, after starting 2-3, Immanuel has gone 12-1 since. At 14-4, the team is now tied for the most wins ever for an Immanuel team. In 2005-06 they went 14-7 and also secured Immanuel's sole Small Dairyland Conference Championship. Currently Immanuel leads both the Large Dairyland and the Small Dairyland in total record (14-4) and with RPI (currently 0.55).

Game 18: Immanuel @ Alma/Pepin
At Alma/Pepin (Alma H.S.)
February 17, 2012
Eau Claire Immanuel: 38 (14-4, 8-3)
Alma/Pepin: 35 (12-5, 8-3)
Note: One of the biggest wins ever for the Immanuel Lady Lancers!!!!! With this win Immanuel is now tied with Alma/Pepin for 1st place in the Small Dairyland Conference!!! Tonight Independence also lost on a last second layup, Gilmanton beating them 47-46. Otherwise Independence would have led the conference by 1/2 a game. Also, at 14-4 this year's team is now tied for the most wins ever in a season, the 2005-06 squad going 14-7. This is also the first time Immanuel has beaten Alma/Pepin since they began their co-op in 2009. Prior to that Alma was in the Dairyland Conference on its own, Pepin a part of the Dunn-St. Croix Conference.

Leader-Telegram Inside Girls Hoops - February 16
From Justin Harings' list of "Big Games" in the weekly Inside Girls Hoops section of today's Eau Claire Leader-Telegram:
IMMANUEL LUTHERAN AT ALMA/PEPIN7:30 p.m. FridayThe Lancers are coming in hot to Alma. A win in this one would tie the program's single-season record for victories and move them into a tie with the Eagles, who lead the Small Dairyland. The Eagles won, 51-42, when these teams played Dec. 8 on the Immanuel Lutheran campus. But these Lancers are winning their key games right now.
HARINGS' PICK: Immanuel Lutheran.
