Game 17: Gilmanton @ Immanuel

At Eau Claire Immanuel
February 8, 2013

Eau Claire Immanuel:  62   (14-3, 9-1)

Gilmanton:  37  (6-12, 3-9)

NOTE:  The Lady Lancers avenged their 57-64 loss from earlier this season on December 4, 2012, by handily beating the Panthers this evening. A lot of credit goes to those Immanuel defenders who defensively hindered and pressured Gilmanton's star player, who overages over 20 ppg, limiting her to merely 5 points for the night and keeping enough pressure on her so that she could not rebound effectively.  With the win, the Lancers clench at least a share of the Small Dairyland Conference title.  One more win in their last three conference games for the Lancers will enable them to win it outright.  One more loss for Cochrane-Fountain City (now 7-4, 2.5 games behind) will also secure it for the Lancers.  The Lancers extend their historic winning streak to 10 games, never done before in program history.

Game 16: Alma/Pepin @ Immanuel

At Eau Claire Immanuel
February 5, 2013

Eau Claire Immanuel68   (13-3, 8-1)

Alma/Pepin:  51  (0-10, 2-12)

NOTE:  After keeping fans on their toes the past two games, just edging out wins, tonight the Lady Lancers were able to handily get the victory over Small Dairyland Conference foe, Alma/Pepin.  Spotting Alma/Pepin five points to begin the game, even letting them get ahead to 10-4, the Lancers then surged ahead at the end of the first quarter (20-14) and refused to relinquish the lead thereafter.  Even though the game was quite spirited with Alma/Pepin's overall team quickness, the Lancers were able to play at a high pace and get quality, open looks at the basket.
The Lancers now have three consecutive victories over Alma/Pepin after starting off 0-6 against them since they first began a co-op during the 2009-10 season.  During the first quarter Abbie Hein crossed the 1500 point plateau and play stopped to acknowledge this feat.  For the game she broke the girls' single-game scoring record with 35 points, previously held by herself with 34 points (v. New Auburn on 11/29/2011).

The Lancers move on with a 13-3 record, still racking up the best-ever start to an Immanuel season.  They also set a record with a 9-game winning streak.  8-game winning streaks were accomplished in 2005-06 and 2011-12.  In addition, the Lancers are 8-1 in conference, a 2.5 game-lead over Cochrane-Fountain City (6-4).  One more conference win by Immanuel will secure at least a share of the conference title.  Two more conference wins will enable the Lancers to get the title outright.  The Lancers will play Gilmanton at home this  Friday, Feb. 8, the only team Immanuel has lost to in conference.  They lost to them 57-64 on December 12, 2012 at Gilmanton.

Rebecca Naumann was able to return to the rotation this evening after nursing tendonitis in one of her feet.  Johanna Meyer recently passed the baseline test for her concussion, hoping to return for Friday's game against Gilmanton.  Johanna Ohlmann still has a severe ankle sprain and the time of her return is unknown.
