WQOW - Story about Immanuel

WQOW came to the Immanuel campus today to do a story on the Immanuel girls basketball team making history by bringing the school's first regional title in basketball.

Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran has advanced to the WIAA girls basketball sectionals for the first time in school history.

The Lancers defeated Clayton, 41-35, Saturday night to take home the Immanuel's  first-ever regional championship.   The Lancers are also riding an eighteen game win streak, and while they are enjoying the moment, they're also hungry for more.

Immanuel Lutheran head coach Jim Sydow says, "The regional championship was a special moment for these girls as well as the Immanuel fans that have gone through many years of watching losses in regional play."

"I was so happy when we won the regional," says Lancers senior guard Abbie Hein, "that was the most unbelievable feeling, but lately it's just like it's not good enough. I still have this pit in my stomach, you know we just want more."

Immanuel Lutheran will face defending Division 5 state runner-up Owen-Withee, in a 7:00 P.M. game Friday in Rice Lake.  The winner gets either Northwood or South Shore in the Sectional Final at Spooner, Saturday, at 7:00 P.M.
